Our pelvic floor rehabilitation addresses your concerns utilizing internal and external manual physical therapy techniques targeting connective tissues, muscles and nerves.

Our evaluation will assess your external myofascial tissues in your abdomen, legs, low back and buttocks in accordance with current research findings. This research confirms a correlation between these external tissues and pelvic floor dysfunction, bladder disorders and pelvic pain. An internal exam is performed to assess the health and function of your pelvic floor muscles.

Treatment begins during your first appointment. Your treatment is geared toward resolving any dysfunction noted so that each tissue group will function normally. You will be provided with feedback regarding home managemnt, exercises, and behavioral changes as appropriate.

When you are our patient, you receive your physical therapist's undivided attention for the hour appointment. We do not treat multiple patients simultaneously. We do not employ aides or assistants. You will not bounce between therapists. You will have one therapist who knows what your body needs and how your body responds to treatment. We have chosen to design our schedule to allow for this time because this is what we have found provides you with the most rapid results. We are specialists with proven experience in the field of pelvic floor physical therapy. We have the highest level of education available to a physical therapist, the Doctor of Physical Therapy. Additionally, we attend national and international conferences to stay on top of the latest research to help you, our patient.

In short, when you choose to receive your treatment with us you are being treated by a uniuely qualified and highly skilled practitioner. You are given uninterrupted, one-on-one treatment with a customized plan of care provided by a Physical Therapist with a Doctorate of Physical Therapy who specializes in pelvic floor dysfunction.

Your length of treatment varies based on how long you have had your symptoms, previous treatments you have received, and your compliance with self management and home exercise programs that we will provide you. It is imperative that you are committed to actively participate in your treatment.

Patients are usually seen for 1 hour per week for 8 to 10 weeks. Every 8 to 10 visits you will be re-evaluated to determine if there has been adequate improvement in your symptoms to justify continued therapy.

Once you have achieved 75% to 80% improvement in your symptoms your treatments will be reduced to once every 2 weeks.

Upon achieving 90% to 95% improvement in your symptoms, your treatments will be reduced to once a month until you are discharged from therapy.
